The Centre for Social Innovation opens a new building!

Art Director, Designer, Illustrator: Gil Martinez, RGDDesigner:
The Centre for Social Innovation has opened a new location, and I designed this poster to welcome new tenants into the space. I like to use calligraphy in my work, and although a quick job, I am very pleased with this particular project.

Farmer's Market at CSI!

Art Director, Designer, Illustration: Gil Martinez, RGDDesigner:
I've been helping out at, and working out of, The Centre for social Innovation. This incredible community hosts several progressive organizations and businesses. We are all committed to social change, and try to support local businesses that grow food responsibly. There is a mini-market there each Tuesday, and I have produced this poster to promote the event. I am exploring the graphic language of the 40s, 50s and 60s. I hope you like it as much as I do!

Sexy pro-bono for a good cause

Art Director/Designer/Illustrator: Gil Martinez, RGD

This poster for PWA advertised their annual car-wash extravaganza. Hunks galore raised more than $7,000 for a very worthy cause. And they wore my poster! yay!

Pride Toronto Brand Update

Art Director: Gil Martinez, RGD

Pride Toronto has grown up a lot since 2008. No more design on a whim or by committee. Now we actually think about what we are trying to achieve, and one of the results is this fresh new logo. On the image you can compare both the old and the new marks.

Pride Toronto Guide

Help wanted—Pride Toronto

Art Director/Designer: Gil Martinez

Check out this ad for Pride Toronto. Not bad for a rush job done in under 2 hours. I wrote the copy as well... We're looking for volunteer designers, so if you know someone who might be interested pass it on.

TechSoup Canada Art Installation

Art Director: Gil Martinez
Artists: Gil Martinez, Donnie Claudinho

This series of four mixed media panels and one mural were made for TechSoup Canada to mark the occasion of their website launch. The temporary panels, which showcase significant dates in TechSoup Global's history, were made using recycled materials. You can see the way the art fits the space, as well as a detail of panel no. 4.

Friends of Dorothy Dinner Flyer (2003)

Designer/Illustrator: Gil Martinez
Technique: Vector

The Inn at Jaffrey Center, a popular restaurant and inn in southwestern New Hampshire, hosts an annual dinner to honor the GLBTQA community in the region. I designed the invitations, posters and flyers for this event until 2007. This sample is from 2003.

Mississippi Home Again Website (2006)

Art Director/Designer: Gil Martinez
Photographer: Ann Card

After Hurricane Katrina ravaged much of the American South, photographer Ann Card, a regular Yankee Magazine contributor, started a non-profit organization to help victims of the hardest-hit areas. Most of the efforts by both the government and international aid organizations concentrated on New Orleans and Louisiana, but Mississippi was devastated too, and it is the poorest state in the US. I designed their logo and website pro bono. I found out much later that a very similar logo solution exists for another non-profit organization, but by then the Mississippi home again project was wrapping up, and there was no need for a redesign.
