¡Viva México! Illustrations (1997)

Art Director: Benjamín Fernández
Illustrator: Gil Martínez
Technique: Scratchboard

These illustrations were made for Fernández Editores, a publishing house that specializes in textbooks for children ages 3-18. The images had to have the look and feel of old woodcuts from the 1810-1820 period, when the Mexican War of Independence was fought.

Illustration: Suitable Work Spaces (1996)

Illustrator: Gil Martinez
Technique: Scratchboard

An illustration for my undergrad thesis, outlining the minimum measurements for a suitable work surface. I used scratchboard because I knew the book had to be printed in one ink if it was to be printed at all.
