This piece is my favorite Yankee assignment, and remains in my portfolio. And for some reason, I never included it in my blog. I am proud of what we did here. The home was beautiful but it demanded some serious styling. We did not have an opening shot, and I composed the mud room tableau with a chair, a table and some random objects that were lying around in the barn. The light, as you can see, was gorgeous.

Yankee Magazine Travel Guide to New England travel labels (2004)

The 2004 Yankee Magazine Travel Guide to New England had as its central theme the variety of ethnic foods available in the region. The editors titled it "Around the World in New England", and I created these travel labels to accompany the mention of each exotic restaurant. This made the spreads a bit more interesting, and we did not have to include the photos of good but unnatractive restaurants.

I went to this assignment expecting to direct the photo shoot and style anything if necessary. However, some of the male models we had invited for the shoot filed to show up, so I stepped in. I am the guy in the red shirt.

This was one of my most fun assignments for Yankee Magazine, and I love the opener. None of the kids are professional models: they were all vacationing at this camp with their families.

I styled this house for our January 2006 issue. It was challenging because bookcases and cupboards were very disorganized, but a lot of fun. The owners collect trolls, and they have hidden them throughout the house.

The 2005 Yankee Magazine Travel Guide to New England cover. I like the way I handle type on this cover. Note the amount of zingers, and the manner in which the word "classics" was integrated with the number "70".

This story marked the first time I was given the opportunity to actually coordinate an entire project myself. I contacted all the wallpaper manufacturers, selected the samples, styled the room for the shoot, and created the small illustration that gives the name and manufacturer of each pattern on the photo.

Another newsstand premium for Yankee Magazine. I drew my inspiration from postwar canning recipe books, and the entire booklet was illustrated with XIXth-century woodcuts.

This poster is part of a series of seasonal guides Yankee Magazine distributed during 2004 and 2005. All fronts were illustrated by Erick Ingraham, while the backs were put together with stock photo and illustrations I made. The first photo displays the poster the way it looked when folded and attached to the magazine on the newsstand.

A travel feature for Yankee Magazine published in March of 2003. I like the strong opener, and the fact that on turning the page the reader is confronted by an image that is equally strong. It made the book, which was digest-sized, seem even larger.
